High school student Isabella dreams of a more inspiring STEM curriculum. Enter HASSE, the Houston Association for Space and Science Education, with its mission to kindle that very passion. HASSE envisions a “School of the Future” in Houston, leveraging local resources for motivation and learning. HASSE’s programs attract students from 11 different countries, offering enrichment programs, distance learning with invited speakers, and year-round experiences. However, challenges arise, from costly programs to limited accessibility. HASSE recognizes its challenges and is actively working to overcome them – by improving marketing and outreach, collaborating with other institutions, and providing additional scholarships to make their programs more accessible. With these collaborative efforts, HASSE is determined to light up the path for students like Isabella.
